What We Do While We Wait
(In the Oncology Clinic Waiting Room)
He never stopped talking;
She never stopped listening,
Both doing what they needed to do,
What we all need to do
While we wait
In this waiting,
Talking and listening room -
Whatever helps
To pass the time
And deal with the worry
And wondering
About what's next.
Oncology consultation:
Few the fingernails left
As we wait, worry and wonder.
We are not alone in that,
Searching for another fingernail.
