That Far Away Look

I see it more and more, That far away look In the eyes Of my fellow patients Either before, during Or after treatment. With it, they leave us all behind And travel elsewhere Where visitors cannot go. Out the ward window And far beyond they travel A lifetime in that look - All the joys, the sorrows The regrets In that heart-bursting moment When words are redundant and don't really work - That far away look... That says it all.
