Sometimes Mortality Itches
(Chemotherapy 2.0, No. 3)
Mortality - It drops a lot of hints here, Both subtle and unsubtle,
But not unkindly.
Like 'oncology' - it used to be
A frightening, sharp intake of breath word, A shock, a 5 on the Richter Scale scare;
No longer,
Eventhough parts of me this week, Resemble Little Red Riding Hood.
1 out of every 2
The chemotherapy background reading Tells me, will break out in a rash,
Red, scratchy and hard to ignore.
And so I am, 1 of every 2;
A very select group, you know.
Sometimes, you see, Mortality itches,
But that's OK;
It comes with the territory,
And that's OK too.
