Cancer And Kindness

Cancer and kindness; They come in the same breath here. Too much of the former And gratefully, a surfeit of the latter At no extra charge. When the former grows, So grows the latter. Cancer needs kindness, And kindness knows - It is not a fair weather friend, Nor does it fear Hard and difficult truths, Sometimes whispered Behind drawn, blue curtains. Those hard and difficult truths Abound here too. Kindness is not averse. If we be better; If we be worse, Kindness knows and adjusts. It just knows. It has so much practice here, Both professional and personal. Cancer needs the skilful, And in response, Kindness too.
